HAŠK’s activities on the FEEL project

As part of the FEEL project, HAŠK Mladost cooperates together with the Croatian Para-Basketball Association. The team trains in the Cedevita Basketball Center at the Zagreb Fair, where the premises, equipment and hall are used.

The first meeting was in November 2022, after which training sessions begin twice a week. On average, around 10 people in wheelchairs participate in the training sessions, and HAŠK, as a partner of this project, is looking for people who will sit in a wheelchair and try to play parabasketball for the first time.

The club we cooperate with finished the Croatian league in 3rd place last season, as well as in the Croatian cup “Dubravka Ciliga”, a cup named after the late professor Dubravka Ciliga, who is one of the initiators of wheelchair basketball in Croatia.

The FEEL project supported the club in their activities, such as the presentation of para-sports activities in elementary schools throughout Croatia, among which, of course, para-basketball was presented. Students had the opportunity to sit in the cart, play and shoot the basket from the cart. Recently, wheelchair basketball was presented at the Faculty of Kinesiology in Osijek, because it is at that faculty that wheelchair basketball will be one of the subjects in the faculty’s curriculum.

As part of the project, we are advocating for gender equality, so girls and boys all train together, as well as those who came in wheelchairs and those to whom we ‘borrowed’ wheelchairs for training.

We share a few photos below, and you can find more of them on the project page.
