EMCA Assembly in Barcelona

From 19 to 21 March 2026, we took part in the General Assembly of the European Multisport Club Association (EMCA), held for the first time in Sant Cugat del Vallès, near Barcelona.

The event was hosted by SantCugatCreix, a multisport organisation recognised for connecting sport, education and innovation. Over the course of three days, Sant Cugat became a hub of sport and development, bringing together representatives of 32 leading multisport organisations from across Europe.

Opening session and focus on European projects

The event opened with a dynamic session led by EMCA President Christina Tsiligkiri and Sant Cugat Creix President Miquel Martinez, officially launching the European Meeting on Sport and Innovation.

The first day focused on the development of key Erasmus+ projects, highlighting EMCA’s role as a bridge between sporting excellence and social responsibility.

Special attention was given to the following projects:

  • SPEED, addressing the prevention of eating disorders among young athletes
  • PERISCOPE, promoting good governance and ethical monitoring in sport
  • DIGIROOT, supporting the digital transformation of sports organisations
  • M.A.D. Padel, encouraging intergenerational sport among mothers and daughters
  • HERIZON, aiming to create safe and inclusive environments for female athletes
  • DiaPS – Diabetes Digital Peer Support, supporting safe sport participation for people with diabetes through digital tools and peer support

As highlighted by EMCA President Christina Tsiligkiri:

Today demonstrates that multisport organisations are not merely competitive entities, but hubs of innovation. Through collaboration with academic institutions and international partners, we transform sports expertise into tangible benefits for younger generations.

Innovation, exchange and collaboration

The programme continued with workshops, meetings and the Innovation Hub conference, held at the CAR Sant Cugat Olympic High Performance Centre – one of Europe’s leading facilities for elite sport, research and innovation.

The agenda also included an institutional visit to Sant Cugat City Hall, further strengthening the connection between sports organisations and local authorities.

General Assembly and future outlook

The three-day event concluded with the EMCA General Assembly, where member organisations defined the strategic direction for the upcoming period, focusing on network expansion and stronger international cooperation.

Four new members – Goztepe, PUC, Leman Ballers and EuroSpoc – were officially welcomed, further strengthening the European sports network.

A new digital initiative, EMCA Studia, was also presented as a platform for preserving and sharing the results of European projects.

It was also announced that the next EMCA General Assembly in 2027 will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, hosted by Sporting Lisbon.

What it means for HAŠK Mladost

Participating in the EMCA Assembly once again highlighted the importance of international cooperation, knowledge exchange and innovation in sport.

We return from Barcelona with new ideas, valuable connections and renewed motivation for further development – both within HAŠK Mladost and through the European projects we are actively involved in.
