DIASPORTCAMP project officially closed – new camps and next steps ahead
After one year of collaboration, education and pilot delivery, the DIASPORTCAMP project (1 Nov 2024 – 31 Oct 2025), co-funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ Sport, has officially concluded. At the final partner meeting held in late October, the consortium — Mamut 2018 (coordinator), HAŠK Mladost and MP Sport — reviewed results and agreed on a clear plan for next steps.
The team reflected on the project’s key achievements:
- a pilot phase that reached over 1,700 children and young people,
- training and engagement of 130 coaches,
- successful inclusion of 11 young athletes living with diabetes,
- an in-person workshop delivered on 2 August 2025, and
- the launch of an online course on the EMCA Studia platform.
What’s next?
Looking forward, the project team will develop a public dissemination package, launch a follow-up survey for coaches, and — most importantly — begin planning for three new basketball camps adapted for young athletes with diabetes in different countries.
Although the official project timeline has ended, the impact of DIASPORTCAMP continues — through the coaches who were trained, the tools now available, and the new initiatives it has inspired.
Because sport should be safe, inclusive, and empowering for all young people — no exceptions.
