HAŠK Mladost at the Final Conference of the Sport Transparency Index: Transparency in Sport Is No Longer a Taboo

Sport is increasingly confronted with questions of trust, fairness, and accountability. That’s why, on 18 June in Brussels, key figures from the European sports sector will gather at the final conference of the Sport Transparency Index project to discuss one major topic – transparency.

This is the first initiative in Europe to systematically and publicly assess how open sports organisations are in their operations – from finances and decision-making processes to ethical standards and access to information.

The project is led by SIGA – Sport Integrity Global Alliance, with support from the European Union and 11 partner organisations. Its goal is clear: to provide the sports community with a practical tool for assessing and improving levels of transparency and good governance, regardless of the organisation’s size, budget, or level of professionalisation.

So what does transparency really mean?

It refers to openness in how sports organisations operate: who makes decisions and how, where the money goes, whether clear rules and ethical codes exist, and how accessible this information is to members, athletes, and the public. In short – how fair and clear the system is for everyone involved.

One of the panelists at the conference will be Bojan Mijatović, International Coordinator at HAŠK Mladost and Director of Development and Sustainability at EMCA (European Multisport Club Association). As part of the panel The Benefits of Publicly Evaluating Transparency and Good Governance in Sport, Bojan will highlight the advantages of public evaluation for sports clubs – from education and practical tools to easier strategic planning and long-term sustainability.

The conference will bring together representatives of Olympic committees, sports federations, clubs, and academic institutions. It will present research results, outline evaluation methods, and showcase the practical benefits the Sport Transparency Index offers to organisations seeking to be more open, efficient, and professional.

Attendance is free, but places are limited.
