ReSea Sports Joins the Green Sport Manifesto

Can sport move people and drive change?
Can competition serve nature, and can victory mean something for our planet?

Within the European project ReSea Sports, we no longer see these as questions, but as commitments. ReSea Sports is now part of the Green Sport Manifesto — an initiative that unites sports organisations across Europe around a shared goal: sport that doesn’t take from nature, but gives back to it.

Green Sport – The Sport of the Future

Green sport is more than caring for the environment.
It’s a new way of thinking — about how we train, how we organise events, what we leave behind, and how we engage our communities. It’s about making sport sustainable, responsible, and regenerative, respecting both the environment in which it takes place and the people involved in it.

That’s why the Green Sport Manifesto was created — a document launched by the European Commission as part of the SHARE 2.0 initiative.

SHARE 2.0 brings together stakeholders from sport, tourism, and civil society to develop smarter, greener, and more inclusive solutions — with green sport as one of its main priorities.

The Manifesto calls on sports organisations to:

  • establish sustainability management structures,
  • develop and share sustainability strategies,
  • monitor and report progress regularly,
  • collaborate and connect with other organisations,
  • and apply practical tools and knowledge for a green transformation.

ReSea Sports: When Sport Regenerates the Sea

From the very beginning, ReSea Sports has brought together sport and environmental action.
The project unites clubs, researchers, and coastal communities from across Europe, focusing on marine ecosystem conservation, ocean literacy, and responsible use of coastal and maritime resources.

Through workshops, pilot actions, and local engagement campaigns, ReSea is building a new model of sport — sport that regenerates, not depletes.

Joining the Green Sport Manifesto was therefore a natural step forward — a recognition that what the project has already achieved on the ground now gains a European framework and a stronger platform for collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

What It Means for Us

As a project partner, HAŠK Mladost contributes through educational and communication activities, connecting with other sports organisations and developing materials that help clubs embrace more sustainable practices — whether they are water-based or not.

Being part of ReSea means being part of a European network of athletes, coaches, researchers, and enthusiasts working towards the same goal: a sport that cares.

What’s Next?

In the months ahead, project partners across Europe will:

  • organise workshops and educational sessions,
  • conduct pilot activities in coastal areas,
  • launch local awareness campaigns, and
  • regularly share insights and tools with clubs, communities, and institutions.

HAŠK Mladost will actively participate in these processes, helping spread knowledge and examples of good practice — proving that change in sport can lead to change in society and the environment alike.

Green sport isn’t a luxury — it’s a necessity. And when we play for the planet, we’re all on the same team.
