Poreč Harbour Seabed Cleaned as Part of the ReSea Project
On Sunday, 27 September 2026, an environmental clean-up initiative took place in Poreč, focusing on the harbour seabed between Hotel Palazzo and the sports marina. The now-traditional event was organised by the Poreč Underwater Activities and Sport Fishing Association (DPDSR Poreč), one of three Croatian sports clubs participating in the Erasmus+ Sport ReSea project, in which HAŠK Mladost is also a partner.
The clean-up was carried out in cooperation with the City of Poreč, the Poreč Port Authority and the local utility company Usluga Poreč d.o.o., once again highlighting the importance of collaboration between sports organisations and local institutions in protecting the marine environment.
The initiative continued a long-standing effort to preserve the natural environment of Poreč and encourage a more responsible attitude towards the sea. Beyond removing waste from the seabed, the event provided an opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of protecting the Adriatic Sea, its coastline and islands, as well as the need for continuous care of marine ecosystems.
Sport Taking an Active Role in Environmental Protection
Diving clubs, whose activities are closely connected to the sea, are particularly well placed to contribute to marine conservation through their knowledge, experience and practical involvement. Initiatives such as this demonstrate how sport can play an important role in protecting natural resources, not only through education and awareness-raising but also through direct environmental action.
The Poreč harbour clean-up is one of three activities being carried out this year by Croatian sports clubs involved in the ReSea project, which aims to encourage more sustainable sporting practices and strengthen the contribution of sports organisations to the protection and regeneration of marine and coastal ecosystems.
The international project ReSea – Sustainable Management of Sports Practice towards the Socio-Ecological Regeneration of Maritime and Coastal Areas brings together partners committed to connecting sport, sustainability and local communities. As one of the project partners, HAŠK Mladost supports the promotion of regenerative sport and initiatives that contribute to long-term environmental conservation.
The ReSea project is co-funded by the European Union through the Erasmus+ Sport programme.
