Sport!Op! – Opportunities for inclusion of vulnerable youth through sport
project start date: 01.01.2020
project end date: 30.06.2022 extended to 31.12.2022
Sport!OP! ‘Opportunities for the inclusion of vulnerable youth through sport’ is a cross-border project which aims to develop local community-based strategies using sport as a vehicle for the social inclusion of youngsters at risk. Within the project, young females are given particular attention.
Sport!Op! is being implemented by 7 partners in various regions of 6 different European countries.
The general objective of Sport!Op! falls under the Erasmus+ priority of encouraging social inclusion and equal opportunities in sport. The project contributes to the following objectives:
- To adopt and promote a true participatory approach where beneficiaries and stakeholders are brought together to create and consolidate a local community-based strategy.
- To analyse the requirements and benefits of sport activities as socio-educative strategies for the most socially vulnerable youngsters. Devising best practices in each of the targeted contexts to be scaled up and disseminated.
- To design, develop and execute participatory experimentation of a socio-educational proposition for promoting resilience through sports activities. Expanding capacity and offering a methodological handbook for sports organisations and other stakeholders
- To evaluate and consolidate the knowledge gained in order to define a specific socio-educational proposal replicable in other contexts. Elaborate useful policy recommendations.
