Project Description

Gender inequity is a global phenomenon that affects all aspects of teenage life, including social life and practicing sport. This issue has an impact on the ability to integrate and the will to engage in activities associated with the phenomenon and changes the perception of youth regarding those activities. S.A.F.E. project aims to identify the perception of youth 15-20 regarding gender based discrimination in certain sports and promote gender equity in
sport among teenagers in small communities.

We believe that all sports should be accessible for everyone, regardless of age, gender, physical aspect or background. Sport has benefits to the healthy development of youth (body, mind and spirit). Anyone should be able to find a sport they like and enjoy practicing it without being discriminated for their option. The objectives of the project are:

  1. Developing a gender-neutral attitude towards practicing sport by teenagers, with a focus on mapping the perceptions of youth, coaches and trainers on gender equity and identifying the most important causes that are leading to gender inequity in practicing grassroots sports
  2. Stimulate participation in sport for teenagers from participating countries based on a gender-equity behavior among youth, trainers and coaches involved in practicing grassroots sports
  3. Developing and strengthen the network of partners involved in this project on local, national and international level in sharing gender-equity experience and promote sport as a tool for social inclusion and fighting against discrimination.

The objectives of the project will be achieved through development of research on the level of gender equity in sport in participating countries, designing a training based on gender equity for sport teachers and coaches and national sport events for teenagers in which the training methods will be tested.
